Robyn, Lesley & Carly McMahonGlenn and Lesley came to Gabriola Island as young parents in 1978 ...

We were attracted to the quiet and beautiful surroundings, and close proximity to work and shopping in Nanaimo. We were especially interested in the small friendly community and considered Gabriola a good place to raise our children, Carly and Robyn.

As it turned out Gabriola was and is a wonderful place to raise a family along with a couple of dogs, some chickens, a cat, and two horses. Our girls are now grown, the animals have passed on and we are still here - it appears that Gabriola is also a good place for future retirement! Now Gabriola appeals to us for different reasons - we are happy to be a part of our friendly community and to call this beautiful island our home. And because we like to be closer to nature and not further from civilization, we enjoy the close proximity to places like Nanaimo, Victoria, and Vancouver and the Mount Washington ski area!

For our family, living on Gabriola has helped us to realize a way of life which we welcome and appreciate: a relaxed lifestyle where the worries of the world seem a little further away and where family and friends come together to enjoy the perfect balance of nature and community.

I have lived most of my adult life on Gabriola Island and have enjoyed a successful real estate career since 1985 specializing in the sale of Gabriola properties. I have a wealth of experience, knowledge, insights and anecdotes that I enjoy sharing with my clients. Partnering with my daughters has allowed me to enter into a semi retirement work mode.

My husband and I spend the fall working on our family ten acre property and winter hiking in the southern deserts. I come back refreshed and ready to work the spring and summer real estate seasons. Gabriola Island has been very good to me and I am grateful to have found such a beautiful place to live, work and grow old with my family around me.

I was raised on Gabriola and returned in 2004 after some traveling, education and city living. My family, consisting of me, my landscaper husband, two sweet little girls, and a very friendly Boston Terrier, love the island lifestyle: a safe and natural environment, a supportive community, farmers markets, fresh local produce, bakery goods, local art, gallery openings at Artworks, studio tours, hundreds of acres of parkland, a slower pace, and lots of familiar faces.

One of the things I appreciate about being a realtor is seeing people fall in love with Gabriola. The beauty of this island will never be lost on me and it makes me smile when I see others share that feeling.

Born in Nanaimo, we quickly moved to Gabriola when I was 1 1/2 years old.  Growing up here was wonderful, days were spent riding horses, playing in the forest and exploring the many acres of forest by our home.  I returned in 2005 after finishing post-secondary schooling at Langara College for Environmental Studies accompanied by my husband and now two fun-loving daughters and dog, Dexter.

 Both my husband and I are active in the community, with him volunteering with CKGI (Gabriola Radio Society) and myself as a director on the board for People for a Healthy Community , member of the Housing Task Force and appointed member to the APC (advisory planning committee) among others.
