There have been 15 sales since October 1st, 2006 as compared to 24 total sales for this time last year. The median price for the fall of 2006 is $240,000 as compared to the fall of 2005 at $231,000. Total number of properties currently on the market is 68. Of these 32 are bare land and the rest are residential. In addition there are 5 commercial properties for sale.
Market activity and values are slightly lower but appear to be remaining stable at this time. Values of small bare lots remain strong and activity is high on these properties.

Gabriola Health Care Society - The GHCS has recently been formed and intends to improve Gabriola's existing healthcare services. All residents will be members in the non-profit, community based society and will be able to vote for a board of directors and participate in public meetings. The first Town Hall meeting will be on January 10th at the Phoenix Auditorium at The Haven from 2 - 4:30 pm.
Gabriola Groundwater Management Society - GGMS provides information about rainwater harvesting, water testing, salt water intrusion, island watersheds and aquifers, plus well management, with tips for property buyers and people planning to install wells. Groundwater quality testing kits are available at Raspberry's for $20. Annual membership to GGMS is $15 or 5 hours of volunteer work - the society hopes to receive support from the entire island for their ongoing work.
