Gabriola Real Estate Activity for Past Quarter

There have been 28 sales and 4 conditional sales since January 1st, 2008 as compared to 32 total sales for this time last year. The median price for the first quarter of 2008 is $255,500 as compared to the first quarter of 2007 at $297,500. Total number of properties currently on the market is 76. Of these 28 are bare land and the remainder are residential. In addition there are 5 commercial properties currently listed for sale.

The market is warming up with the arrival of Spring and we are seeing lots of activity in the lower price range. Market values are remaining stable at this time.

Spring on Gabriola

This spring on Gabriola get out and enjoy our beautiful parks, trails, beaches, marinas, tennis court and golf course. As well there are the many community events including Spring Concerts, Marine Festival and Wooden Boat Launch, Dancing Man Festival, Saturday Farmers Market, Sunday Silva Bay Market, Salmon Derby, Home and Garden Tour, and Himalayan Festival.

Farm Projects

At the Gabriola Commons there are number of farm projects to get involved with including blueberries, orchards, scything, and a potato co-op - 247-9977

Arts & Culture Week

The Gabriola Arts Council will celebrate Arts and Culture Week, April 20-26 with the Community Art Theme Show and the People's Choice Awards - this show will be hosted by Gabriola Artworks. The community will also be invited to attend ArtStart, workshops on all kinds of art from dance to painting to poetry.

Preschool

There are a number of opportunities for preschoolers on Gabriola including the Gabriola Co-op Preschool 247-7663, The Hope Center Pre-School 247-8730, and the Perry Road Pre-School 247-7478.

BC Ferries Experience™ Card

We now have the new BC Ferries Experience™ Card, which is an electronic swipe card that can be loaded with money and used to pay for ferry travel including reduced fares wherever they’re available.
