Gabriola Real Estate Activity for Past Quarter

There have been 29 sales and 7 conditional sales since April 1st, 2008 as compared to 54 total sales for this time last year. The median price for the second quarter of 2008 is $310,000 as compared to the second quarter of 2007 at $297,500. Total number of properties currently on the market is 108. Of these 45 are bare land and the remainder are residential. In addition there are 7 commercial properties currently listed for sale.

Sales are down 43% across the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) region with 438 sales in June 2008 compared to 626 in June 2007. Gabriola has seen a 41% decrease in June 2008 sales with a potential of 10 sales compared to 17 sales in June of 2007.

VIREB reports the 12 month average sale price is up 10% from the end of June 2007 across the VIREB region.

Garden at the Gabriola Commons - Saturdays, 10-2 pm

Gabriola Museum - Wednesday - Sunday 1-4 pm.

Gabriola Island Winery, Wednesday - Friday 12-5 pm (summer hours), for wine tasting, picnic, deli style foods and spectacular ocean views.

Artworks - Thursdays at 7 pm, each Thursday is the opening night of a new show high lighting local artists.

The Roxy - regular films and music

Programs for teens, Fridays and Saturdays at the Hope Centre.

Annual Strawberry Tea - Saturday, July 5, 2-4 pm at the Gabriola United Church

Radio after Dark radio play and dinner at the Surf - July 7 & 8 at 8 pm

Concert on the Green - August 7, at the Gabriola Golf Course

53rd Annual Salmon BBQ - August 9, 4-8 pm at the Community Hall
