We took a day trip to Parksville, which is just a half hour drive north from the Gabriola ferry terminal on Vancouver Island, to see the sandcastles. Road Side Stand
There are many road side stands on Gabriola which offer such things as fresh produce, fresh eggs, homebaked and preserved goodies, and crafts. It is part of the Gulf Island lifestyle. People move to Gabriola for a lifestyle change which often includes a home occupation. This sweet little stand displays beautiful handmade pottery.
Canada Day
Yesterday was Canada’s Birthday. There were festivities at the Folklife Village Shopping Center with music by Cowabunga, and a potato Cannon contest at the Brickyard beach including birthday cake!
