September is really the best time to go to the lake. Our annual family camp out was a great success, the days and nights were warm and the water was a delight. The whole family had a marvellous time and we had it all to ourselves!
This weekend we are enjoying the 5th annual Gabriola Theatre Festival, a three day extravaganza of fun revolving around 10 live plays, free outdoor entertainment, pancake breakfast, street faire and kids corner arts and crafts. It seems early this year, but yes indeed it is berry picking time! The black berries are big, sweet, juicy and plentiful – perfect for syrup, jam, pie, freezing whole and best of all eating fresh.
That is how I describe this summer. More than a month of blue skies, no rain, hot (but not too hot) days and cool nights. Sensational!
