The Lost Mural

Discovered in 1996 during the demolition of Nanaimo’s Malaspina Hotel this 1918 mural ‘Lieutenant Malaspina Sketching the Malaspina Gallery’ by Canadian artist E. J. Hughes went through a 13 year restoration and is now displayed in the Port of Nanaimo Conference Centre in the heart of old town Nanaimo. Very appropriate for the season, ‘Here Comes the Sun’, was the name of the year end performances put on by the Gabriola Dance School. Dancers aged 3 to 18 entertained appreciative audiences of family and friends in the Phoenix Auditorium on Gabriola. Zombies Attack…

Gabriola survived a zombie attack on the village area yesterday, albeit we now have a slightly lower population of living but a higher number of undead!
